HEIMAT HUNGER HERZBLUT: ONE SAUERLAND - FOUR CHEFS - TWELVE HEADS

Heimat – Hunger – Herzblut originated from a spontaneous idea one evening at Markus Pape’s home in Meisenheim. A conversation about ‘Sauerland cuisine’ quickly developed into a concrete project – and it soon became clear that the regional cuisine is honest, down-to-earth and hearty, but also has its limitations. Expanding the scope to include Westphalia gave the whole project the necessary breadth whilst retaining the region’s character. The idea of involving prominent figures with dishes from their childhood, home or life story brought depth and surprising stories. A small labour of love turned into a collaborative work featuring four chefs, twenty dishes and many personal memories. For the professionals, the cooking sessions were part of their daily routine; for the author, a real adventure, accompanied by close collaboration, creative discussions and a great deal of passion. With its thoughtful design, authentic photographs and honest writing, this book combines regional cuisine with personal moments. A tribute to the Sauerland – sometimes down-to-earth, sometimes wild, always genuine. A special gift for anyone who loves their homeland, stories and good food.
